Hey guys, the Columbia Fireflies become the 4th Sally team to release there opening day roster.  Here’s a link to the article:  https://www.milb.com/fireflies/news/mets-reveal-2017-fireflies-roster/c-221921592/t-196097278

It’s a talented roster led by CF) Desmond Lindsay and RHP) Merandy Gonzalez.  (3B) Blake Tiberi, (2B, SS) Louis Carpio and (C) Ali Sanchez are intriguing as well.  We’ll see who else stands out.

The biggest omissions are LHP) Thomas Szapucki and RHP) Justin Dunn.  2nd round pick 1B) Peter Alonso also, I suspect all of these players will start in St Lucie.

Lakewood Blueclaws official roster released

Standard

Hey guys, the Lakewood Blueclaws have released there opening day roster for 2017 and they’ll be loaded as I anticipated (here’s the complete roster): http://www.milb.com/documents/8/1/8/221921818/Lakewood_BlueClaws_2017_Roster_Opening_Day_Preliminary_8p506c47.pdf

Lakewood was my pick for most talented team at the conclusion of the team previews.  They’ll be led by the 1st overall pick in the 2016 draft Mickey Moniak, and young fireballers Sixto Sanchez and Adonis Medina.  The middle infield combo of 2B) Daniel Brito and SS) Arquimedes Gamboa are intriguing as are young lefties Bailey Falter and Jojo Romero.  We’ll see who else stands out.

The most surprising omissions are 2nd round pick RHP) Kevin Gowdy and 3rd rd pick (SS, 3B) Cole Stobbe.  I was also hoping to see slugging RF) Jhailyn Ortiz but I thought he was a bit of a long shot.

Hickory Crawdads opening day roster released

Standard

Hey guys,  apparently the Rangers released the Crawdads official opening day roster 5 days ago and I missed it.   A reader pointed it out to me yesterday, much appreciated it’s a one man operation and these things will happen.   The full roster is here:  http://www.milb.com/documents/5/6/0/221222560/2017_Opening_Day_Roster_gyj8rr9k.pdf

It’ll be a strong squad headlined by two Dominican youngsters, CF Leody Taveras and SS Anderson Tejeda.   There’s also returnees (SS) Yeyson Yrizarri, (3B) Ti’Quan Forbes and RHP) Jonathan Hernandez.

The Rangers had a lot of talent in rookie ball last year that apparently isn’t making the jump to full season ball at least for now:

LHP- Cole Ragans

RHP- Alex Speas

RHP- Tyler Phillips

3B) Charles Leblanc

MI) Kole Enright

and then of course there’s RHP) Michael Matuella

A lot more here including scouting reports on many of the players who are making the jump and those who aren’t just yet:
