Max Fried in Hickory tonight

Hey guys I decided to take a run over to Hickory tonight to see the Crawdads (Rangers) take on the Rome Braves (Braves).

High profile left hander Max Fried (pronounced Freed) is the scheduled starter for the Braves tonight.   Fried is 22, he’s listed 6’4″ 185 lbs, he bats and throws left.  He was drafted 7th overall by the Padres in the 2012 draft.  He missed nearly two full seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery.  Fried was one of 4 young players traded to Atlanta in the Justin Upton trade.

Right hand pitcher Jonathan Hernandez will be the Crawdads starter.  I saw Hernandez the last time I was in Hickory, good stuff low to mid 90’s heater, good bender.  He was having some command issues that day and was out after 4 innings due to a elevated pitch count.

These are two of the more talented teams in the Sally.  Some of the Rome bats I’ll be looking forward to seeing include:

3B) Austin Riley

SS) Alejandro Salazar

CF-RF) Ray Patrick Didder

The Braves have one of the most exciting young hitters in the league in Ronald Acuna but he’s out with a thumb injury.

The Crawdads are loaded, here’s a few of the many hitters I look forward to seeing each time I visit.

SS) Yeyson Yrizzari

3B) Ti’Quan Forbes

CF) Eric Jenkins

It should be a fun game I’ll be live Tweeting throughout the night @AshevilleSoxFan and I’ll have a full report on Max Fried on the site tomorrow.  Cheers
