This is the last in a series of 2015 Sally shortstop articles, I’ve previously covered Ozzie Albies, Jorge Mateo, Javier Guerra, Luis Guillorme, Malquin Canelo and Michael De Leon. This will be a quick article highlighting two players that likely profile as utility infielders.
Mauricio Dubon and Luis Jean are both excellent glove men with strong arms and can handle 2B, SS and 3B. They both have plus speed and are smart base runners. They’re similar hitters in that they both make good contact but have virtually no load and there swing is all upper body and linear. Neither profiles as much of a power source.
I’m not certain either will hit enough to be regulars, but there gloves and versatility could carry them to a long career as utility infielders.
Next up on Notes I’ll be starting my look at the 2015 Sal 3rd basemen with a piece on Rafael Devers. Also I’m about to begin to previewing the 2016 season by speculating on which rookie ballers will skip short season and come to the Sally. There’s a lot of talent on the horizon.
I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas/ Happy New Year and Happy Hanukkah.
